Building monitoring and fall detection for care facilities

Care areas and building services need different attention. SECURUS brings camera-free fall detection, indoor climate and technical monitoring together in one platform. Alerts reach care, kitchen or maintenance teams according to the task and agreed procedures.

Separate alerts for care and building services

For care staff: Radar sensors detect falls without a camera and alert the team on duty. They complement care and the nurse call system but do not replace them. More under fall detection.

For building services: Leaks, heating faults and unusual hot water temperatures go to the technical team, not to care staff. Alerts reach the people who can act on them.

For residents: Room temperatures stay in view, especially in hot weather. This supports the facility’s heat protection plan. More under indoor climate.

Monitor kitchens, refrigeration and building services

Alongside resident areas, cold rooms and heating systems are relevant monitoring locations. Alerts should go to kitchen or technical teams when they do not require a care response.

Areas of application

Suitable applications by area

Residents’ rooms and common rooms

Indoor climate monitoring shows temperature, humidity and CO₂, and in hot weather which rooms are heating up critically.

Bathrooms and sensitive areas

Camera-free fall detection reports possible falls to the team on duty.

Laundry and plant rooms

Leak detection and existing fault contacts report water and equipment faults to building services.

Hot water and therapy pools

Drinking water temperatures and water quality over time, in addition to the required testing.

Reception and service points

Wireless buttons for service and assistance requests, door contacts for entrances outside visiting hours.

In practice

Fit monitoring to daily care operations

Care-related events and technical alerts need different procedures. Plan both with responsible staff.

Include shift changes in testing

Test alerts during handovers as well. Staff on duty need to identify the room and establish whether someone is already responding. Align this procedure with existing care and call-system workflows.

Test room and installation on site

Camera-free fall detection requires suitable coverage, furniture layout and procedures. Test the complete path from detection to response in selected rooms.

Assess heat using historical readings

Temperature histories show which rooms heat up during the day and cool little at night. This adds information for your facility’s heat protection plan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions from care facilities

Does SECURUS replace a nurse call system?

No. Fall detection and wireless buttons complement your procedures. Required nurse call and emergency systems remain in place.

Are residents filmed?

No. Fall detection uses radar and records no images. Events are still assigned to a room, so agree the purpose and access with data protection and residents beforehand.

Can several facilities be managed together?

Yes. SECURUS manages multiple sites. Using roles, you decide who sees which facility, and alerts go to the team responsible for it.

Does the care team receive technical alerts too?

You decide. Building systems and refrigeration can be assigned to maintenance or kitchens so alerts match the relevant task.
