SECURUS/Use Cases/SOS and service button

SOS button and service button for targeted support

A wireless button lets people request assistance or service in classrooms, reception areas or service points. SECURUS sends the button press and its assigned location to the responsible group. Labels and agreed procedures define what the message means and who responds.

How it works

From the reading to the right person.

01

Measure

Sensors record readings or events directly on site.

02

Transmit

Via LoRaWAN to a gateway within range, then through its internet connection to the platform.

03

Check

The platform checks every value against your thresholds, rules and time windows.

One button, one clear meaning

The same SOS button serves as a call for help or a service request, depending on where it is used, for example in a classroom, a care area or at a service point. A short, long or double press can trigger different alerts. You define labeling, recipients and the expected response in advance.

What the button is not

The alert goes by SMS and email to the configured recipients, not to a control center. Safety-critical emergency calls have their own requirements; a general wireless button does not replace an approved emergency call system. The alert names the button’s location, not where the person is.

Use a service button in daily operations

At reception, a service button can request help from a nearby office; on the shop floor, it can signal that a customer needs assistance. Give each button a clear name, such as First floor reception. Check wireless coverage at its mounting point and test whether the right people receive the message. SECURUS notification groups represent these responsibilities.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about wireless buttons

Does the button send an emergency call to a control center?

No. The alert goes to the recipients you choose. A connection to a control center would have to be arranged separately.

How long does the battery last?

This depends on the button model, number of presses, radio conditions and temperature. Suitable devices can run for several years. The conditions in the datasheet and actual usage determine battery life.

How is it different from fall detection?

The button is pressed deliberately. Fall detection recognizes certain events automatically using radar.

Can different buttons trigger different messages?

Buttons are configured by location and task. Supported press types depend on the device.
