SECURUS/Use Cases/Door and window monitoring

Door and window monitoring with wireless magnetic contacts

A cold room door is left open, a window stays tilted after hours or a warehouse gate is open at night. Wireless magnetic contacts detect open and closed states. SECURUS shows the affected doors and windows and reports openings according to your operating schedules.

How it works

From the reading to the right person.

01

Measure

Sensors record readings or events directly on site.

Cold room, North store · open
02

Transmit

Via LoRaWAN to a gateway within range, then through its internet connection to the platform.

03

Check

The platform checks every value against your thresholds, rules and time windows.

Door open for at least 10 min
04

Alert

The responsible person receives an SMS or email with location, time and trigger.

Alert when it matters

An open gate is normal during a delivery, but not at night. With schedules, you decide when openings are reported and, via the open duration, when an open door becomes noticeable. For cold rooms, combining it with temperature monitoring shows whether the open door affected the temperature.

What a contact detects

Magnetic contacts report open or closed, not locked. Nor do they show who used a door. Access control and intruder alarms are separate systems.

Door monitoring for cold rooms, warehouses and offices

In retail, a door contact complements cold room monitoring. In schools and offices it can reveal windows left open after hours. In a warehouse, the gate may be the relevant point. Define normal states during deliveries, cleaning and closing periods. Clear names help teams find the right door after an alert.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about door monitoring

Does the sensor detect whether a door has been locked?

No, only whether the door is open or closed. Monitoring the bolt position needs an additional sensor.

Can I be notified only after closing time?

Yes. With schedules, you decide when openings are reported.

Do the contacts work on gates and cold rooms?

Yes, with robust models for larger gaps, cold and moisture. We check the design and mounting for each door.

Who receives an open cold room door alert?

Your configured group, such as branch managers or maintenance. Location and responsibility are recorded for each point.
