Pressure monitoring for heating and pipe systems
Falling system pressure or unusual fluctuations can go unnoticed between maintenance visits. Pressure monitoring shows trends at selected measurement points. SECURUS reports deviations from your target ranges so maintenance teams can inspect heating systems and pipes.
Example data for illustration. You set the thresholds yourself in the platform.

Monitoring the system pressure of the heating
A heating system works within a pressure range that the installer sets at commissioning. If the system pressure drops below it, the heating can switch off or individual circuits are no longer supplied properly. This is often only noticed when rooms stay cold or users complain.
A pressure sensor transmits readings at the configured interval. The dashboard and history show the latest received values and trends over days or weeks. Recurring pressure loss and large fluctuations can then be documented for a specialist to investigate.
Reading pressure trends
Pressure changes with temperature and pump operation. A steady drop in a heating circuit or unusually high readings after maintenance warrant investigation. Additional flow and return temperatures and equipment status help the specialist interpret the trend.
Pressure drop alarm: limits and alerts
For each sensor you set a permitted range, with a lower and, if needed, an upper limit. If the pressure leaves this range, SECURUS reports it by SMS, email and in the dashboard to the responsible notification group, for example the custodian and the heating contractor.
The priority controls how urgent an alert is: a clear pressure drop is critical, a slightly raised value more of a notice. Every alert is kept in the alarm history. Later you can see when the pressure first became unusual.
LoRaWAN pressure sensor instead of a pressure logger
A local pressure logger stores readings for later review. A LoRaWAN pressure sensor transmits them to the platform at its configured interval. SECURUS displays histories and reports deviations from your rules. CSV exports support discussions with contractors.
The sensors run on batteries for several years depending on the model and transmission interval, and transmit without a data cable to a gateway in the building.
Pressure, temperature and leaks in the boiler room together
Pressure, temperature and water alerts complement one another. A pressure drop accompanied by water on the floor can narrow the investigation. No water alert does not rule out a leak: water may not reach the sensor. A contractor assesses the cause using the system and further checks.
In SECURUS these values come together for every site. The custodian or the heating contractor sees at a glance which sensors have reported and how the values developed before the alert. This saves time when looking for the fault and helps call the right contractor with the right information. More on protecting the boiler room can be found under leak detection.
Sensor and installation
Pressure sensors are available for different measuring ranges and media, such as 0 to 16 bar for heating and water pipes. Installation in a pressurized system is a job for a qualified contractor; the sensor then transmits wirelessly, without a data cable.
Besides heating, water pipes and other media can be monitored too: depending on the probe, the Dragino PS-LB measures air, gas or water pressure. As a submersible probe it is also suitable for level measurement.
Frequently asked questions about pressure monitoring
How do I get an alert when the heating pressure drops?
A pressure sensor on the heating system measures continuously, and SECURUS compares each value with the limit you set. If the pressure falls below it, the responsible people receive an SMS or email with building, system and reading.
Does a drop in pressure always mean a leak?
No. Temperature, air in the system or a faulty expansion vessel are also possible causes. The contractor determines the cause.
Which limit do I set?
The permissible range of your system, for example from the system documentation. You set it yourself in the platform.
What is the difference from a pressure logger?
A local logger stores readings for later review. A connected pressure sensor sends readings to a platform providing histories and alerts. Logger capabilities also vary by model.
Which measuring range suits heating?
For heating and water pipes, the Milesight EM500-PP with 0 to 16 bar is one example. We choose the right sensor based on the system, medium and connection.
Does the sensor replace the safety valve or maintenance?
No. Safety devices and maintenance remain in place; the sensor provides additional information.
