Vape detection for schools and washrooms
Vaping in school restrooms or smoke in changing rooms often goes unnoticed. Vape sensors measure air changes that may indicate vapor or smoke. SECURUS notifies responsible people so they can investigate under the agreed procedure. No camera images are captured.
Example data for illustration. You set the thresholds yourself in the platform.
From the reading to the right person.
Measure
Sensors record readings or events directly on site.

Via LoRaWAN to a gateway within range, then through its internet connection to the platform.
Check
The platform checks every value against your thresholds, rules and time windows.
Report possible vapingAlert
The responsible person receives an SMS or email with location, time and trigger.
A prompt, not proof
The vape sensor detects changes in the air that point to e-cigarettes or smoke. An alert shows that something happened, not who did it. It is a reason to check on site following an agreed procedure; it does not replace prevention or educational measures.
Introduced properly
Ventilation, room size and cleaning sprays affect detection, so test the sensitivity under real conditions. Agree in advance who responds during school hours and what is documented. The sensor does not replace smoke alarms or fire alarm systems.
Responding to vape alerts during the school day
In schools and municipal buildings, agree who will check the room when an alert arrives. Record observations during testing, such as alerts triggered during cleaning. This helps staff refine sensor placement and rules. An alert does not identify a person; staff assess the situation on site.
Frequently asked questions about vape detection
Are students filmed or conversations recorded?
No. The sensor measures the air; no images or audio recordings are made.
Does the sensor replace a smoke detector?
No. Required smoke alarms and fire alarm systems remain in place.
How is the sensor powered?
Via USB-C or Power over Ethernet. It is mounted on the ceiling.
Does a vape alert prove who was smoking?
No. The sensor reports unusual air conditions at its location. It does not identify anyone.
