Energy monitoring for buildings and technical equipment
Which equipment keeps running after hours? Where is the base load rising? Energy monitoring reveals the electricity demand of individual systems and areas. SECURUS displays measured current and calculated consumption trends so you can review schedules and assess energy-saving measures.
Example data for illustration. You set the thresholds yourself in the platform.
From the reading to the right person.
Measure
Sensors record readings or events directly on site.
North sports hall · 52 kWhTransmit
Via LoRaWAN to a gateway within range, then through its internet connection to the platform.
Check
The platform checks every value against your thresholds, rules and time windows.
Above 30 kWh · After closing timeAlert
The responsible person receives an SMS or email with location, time and trigger.
From current to kWh and costs
Current sensors measure the current on each cable without touching the wiring. The mains voltage and further details of the installation are stored in SECURUS; from these, the platform calculates consumption in kWh and, with your electricity price, the costs.
The values are indicative estimates and do not replace an electricity or energy meter. The meter records total consumption; measuring individual equipment shows how it is made up. Installation in the distribution board is carried out by a qualified electrician.
Where it pays to look
Typical candidates are refrigeration, pumps, ventilation and equipment with long running times. A high load on the weekend need not be a fault, as refrigeration keeps running, for example; what matters is the comparison with actual demand. After a change, such as new operating hours, the history shows what it achieved. For existing meters, there is remote meter reading.
Compare consumption across sites
Compare similar equipment over the same period, allowing for usage and operating hours. A larger school will usually consume more than a smaller one. More useful questions are whether equipment runs outside scheduled hours or draws less current after a change. For municipal buildings and retail sites, name monitoring points consistently by site and equipment.
Frequently asked questions about energy monitoring
How much can I save?
That depends on your equipment. SECURUS shows where energy is being wasted; you save by changing settings or operating hours there.
Can the values be used for billing?
No. They are calculated indicative estimates for analysis and comparison, not a calibrated meter.
Does every piece of equipment have to be measured separately?
No. Start with the equipment that draws the most power or runs the longest.
Can I compare high-consumption equipment across buildings?
Yes. Measurement points are assigned to equipment and sites. Compare similar systems and account for operating hours and use.
